Colonnade Writing Contest
Thank you for your interest in our quarterly contest and yearly anthology, called Colonnade. Unfortunately, the 2013 contests have been temporarily suspended. We hope to have the contest, or something similar to it, back up and running again soon. We apologize for those of you who were looking forward to entering, but encourage you to bookmark our site and check back frequently for updates. Keep in mind, the 2012 contest was still a success, and the resulting anthology will be released very soon. Thanks again for your interest.
Contest Winners & Other Announcements
-November 7, 2012-
Congratulations to Carmen Goldthwaite of Fort Worth, TX and her short story titled Summer's Kiln, 2012's third quarter $125 fiction prize winner. As a result of low entry numbers, the non-fiction category of the contest has been suspended for the third quarter. Those who entered the non-fiction contest this quarter are still eligible to win but will be pushed through to the next round of quarterly judging.
 
The results for the first quarter of the 2012 Colonnade Writing Contest for fiction are as follows:
1st Place: Summer's Kiln by Carmen Goldthwaite
1st Runner-up: Watching Biff on Primetime by Mark Wagstaff
2nd Runner-up: The Penny by Michele Holm.
 
The fourth quarter is open for entries. Please read the submission guidelines below. Good luck.

Congratulations to Curt Locklear of Hugo, MN and his short story titled Callie Moon, and also to Kelly Hayes-Raitt of Santa Monica, CA and her essay Breaking the Silence. Curt and Kelly have won 2012's second quarter $125 fiction and non-fiction prizes.
 
The results for the second quarter of the 2012 Colonnade Writing Contest for fiction are as follows:
Fiction:

1st Runner-up: Scallopini by Colleen Glisson
2nd Runner-up: We All Are Sinners by Elizabeth Barton

Congratulations to Benjamin R. Hostetter of Stafford, VA and his short story titled Kitty, 2012's first quarter $125 fiction prize winner. As a result of low entry numbers the non-fiction category of the contest has been suspended for the first quarter. Those who did enter the non-fiction contest this quarter are still eligible to win but will be pushed through to the next round of quarterly judging.

The Colonnade Writer's Anthology is here, available in print and as an ebook from Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, and many other retailers.
 
Congratulations to Mark Wagstaff of London, the winner of 500 USD and 2011's Story of the Year. Mark's story The Inhuman Fashion was chosen as the best of all the contest's quarterly finalists. Remember, we've added a non-fiction category, so keep those entries rolling in!

Congratulations to C. Stuart Hardwick of Houston, TX and his short story titled Frame Zero, 2011's fourth quarter $100 prize winner. Again, the judges spoke very highly of the quality of writing this quarter, and selecting a winner was not easy.
 
The results for the Third Quarter of the 2011 Colonnade Writing Contest are as follows:

1st Runner-up: Justifications for Deception by David R. Jones
2nd Runner-up: Tropicana Blues by Magda Knight

If you missed the deadline, no sweat! We have an announcement: This year's 2012 Colonnade Writing Contest is bigger, better, with more than twice the prize money to pay out. We now welcome submissions from the world of non-fiction! Good luck to all of the entrants for the final quarterly round of judging in the 2011 Colonnade Writing Contest, and good luck to those in the coming new year.

Congratulations to Johanna Lipford of Rome, Italy and her short story titled The Monster And The Magician, this quarter's $100 prize winner. Again, the quality of writing this quarter was quite high, so selecting a winner wasn't an easy task. There was also a tie, see below.
 
The results for the Third Quarter of the 2011 Colonnade Writing Contest are as follows:
